Tips to ensure you have the perfect living room

Your living room is the most important room in your home and it’s important to ensure that you are comfortable with this room, if not it’s not serving its purpose as a family room.
Below you can find a short check list which can help you decide if there are changes to make or not.

After a long day at work and school it is vital for everyone to have a room that enables you to unwind and relax, to prepare for the next day. If feeling stressed or uncomfortable when you’re in the living room it is necessary to identify what you can do to change this. Designing the perfect living room can be challenging, as it serves multiple purposes such as dining, homework, paying bills and entertainment.
Try to divide these activities the best you can and avoid leaving things too close to each other. If you are relaxing while watching TV you might want to avoid having to stare at the pile of bills located next to the computer.

If you aren’t entirely happy with the way your living room looks it could be as simple as painting the walls a different colour, or changing the curtains. Letting light from outside in creates a cosier atmosphere and with light coloured walls you can make the most of this light. Use simple, decorative curtains and instead of having to pull them closed purchase blinds so you can adjust the amount of light that comes in.

As with every room it is important to stick to one style, or one era, to avoid making your room look messy. When including several styles and moods to your room it’s left looking confusing and disorganised.
If you can’t afford purchasing new furniture you can simply paint them in the same colour so there is a red thread throughout the room, bringing it all together.

The best advice to keep in mind is ensuring you feel happy and comfortable in your living room and if you can’t identify what you would like to change, a neighbour or friend might be able to help you.
